Our Story

Limping Fox Pub Sign crop.jpg

The Limping Fox opened its doors in July 2017. A family run business, set up following the success of our first award-winning pub; The Victoria Park in Bristol. A labour of love to provide the perfect environment to enjoy a delicious meal, have drinks with friends or spend an afternoon with the whole family in our south-facing garden.

Our attitude has never changed; to serve high quality wines, a vast range of premium spirits, craft beers and local ales at affordable prices. The menu revolves around the best ingredients we can find, lovingly prepared and crafted into unique and delicious dishes.

We have received great reviews and recently won the Best British Roast Dinner 2017 for the south of England, which has encouraged us to constantly move with the times and aim to be one of the best pubs in the area.

We hope to see you for a pint very soon!    Luke & Heloise.

One more thing… People keep asking us why we have named the pub The Limping Fox? Well, our 2-year-old daughter is obsessed with a fox, who walks with a limp, and wanders the streets of Thames Ditton. He can often be found down by the river, enjoys a bit of dog food from time to time and has been known to steal the odd shoe from people’s gardens! So, there you have it - The Limping Fox – based on a living legend.

What's On at The Limping Fox

Big Lewbowski Poster.jpg

Outdoor Cinema

After the success of Thelma and Louise and Petty Woman, we are pleased to announce that we will be showing The Big Lebowski as our next film to feature at our outdoor cinema night on Saturday 28th September.

NFC will be taking over the garden with a large cinema screen and preparing for a great summer's evening of food, drinks and a good old-fashioned movie. The garden will be open for ticket holders from 6.30pm where you can relax and enjoy pre-movie drinks. Food will also be available from the bar, and we'll be firing up the pizza oven, the perfect movie accompaniment! The film will start just after sun down, approx 8ish, depending on light.

Pre-booked tickets are £10 for the film, which includes a spot on one of our lovely picnic benches. For a more premium and luxury experience, opt for one of our super-comfy 'lazy boy chairs' at checkout, we promise you won't regret it! Please note that these can only be reserved by advance purchase and are an additional £8. (See website for reference)

Tickets can be purchased on the door (if tickets are still available) at the higher price of £12.50 (film only).

It promises to be a great evening so come down and join us, missing out would be 'A BIG MISTAKE, BIG - HUGE!'

Exhibitions at The Limping Fox

At the Limping Fox we will celebrating local artists with ongoing exhibitions throughout the year. We are currently really excited to be featuring a collective of Children’s Photography bought to us by Magpie Makes, all the work is created by local children aged 8-12 years old:

“Magpie Makes is all about making creative learning fun for kids.

It was launched by founder Kerry Greene in May 2014 from a local nursery with a spare classroom, and as word spread so did the popularity of the workshops.

Kerry is a Graphic Designer and busy mum with two kids who felt that there just weren't enough inspiring creative activities out there for them. She says “What we really wanted was someone to give us some fun ideas, all the things we needed and a place to create them. When your kids ask you for pipe-cleaners and glitter when you're just about to make dinner, it's not always possible...”

So Magpie Makes was begun.

As Magpie Makes grew so did the team, and Suzie Richardson joined as a partner in the business in Summer 2015. Kerry and Suzie gave up their jobs and put all their energy and passion into growing the business and bringing creative experiences to as many kids as possible. The team is now 16 people strong and growing and we’re always on the look out for other passionate creative souls to come and join us.”

All artwork is for sale at a very reasonable £20 for a framed print, the price covers costs and a small contribution towards more photographic equipment for the children.

“I have visited The limping Fox twice in the last couple of months, once with family and friends for Sunday lunch and then just with my family.
On both occasions we have received a warm, friendly welcome by the owners and their lovely little dog.
The food on both visits was delicious and the portion size was generous, i can highly recommend the Sunday roast and the Dirty Fries - guilty indulgence!
My children really enjoyed the climbing frame/slide and pottering about in the garden after demolishing a generous children's roast.
The pub has a modern, clean, fresh feel and we will certainly visit again very soon.”

A friendly local pub with an impressive gin selection and good choice of craft beers on tap. Food is also very good.”

“In the three short weeks since this pub opened I have been three times and have recommended it to all my local friends. This is how you open a pub and impress a local crowd.

The food is delicious, well cooked and looks stunning. The children's menu also doesn't break the bank. The selection of drinks is plentiful and of good quality and the service is friendly and efficient. Given the staff are all new and you expect there to be teething problems in a new establishment, I have not experienced any on my visits.
The design inside is welcoming and I like the added touch of being able to purchase the prints.

If there was any constructive feedback, I would suggest adding a couple of Wendy houses in the garden (if there is a desire to attract parents with younger children) as the climbing frame is quite high.
Keep up the good work, and I look forward to my future visits.”

"We came here for dinner on a Saturday night having read amazing reviews in the paper and wow what a find! The atmosphere was buzzing but not rammed, the staff were super friendly and the food was fantastic. Dishes were all beautifully presented, tasted delicious yet not overly priced. Yummy vegetarian options. Good wine menu too. Thrilled that we have such an incredible local. We will definitely be returning!"
